About Word Puzzle Answers
Word Puzzle Answers is an independent reference for people who play word games: Scrabble, Words With Friends, Wordle, crosswords and anagram puzzles. It answers one question quickly and correctly: which words fit, and are they allowed?
What you will find here
- Word lists for every length from 2 to 15 letters, by first letter, last letter, letters they contain and fixed letter positions.
- Word pages with meanings, pronunciation, Scrabble score, anagrams, one-letter neighbours and rhymes.
- Game helpers: a Word Finder, a Wordle solver, a Scrabble word finder, a crossword solver and an unscrambler, searching all 277,480 playable words.
Where the words come from
Every word on the site appears in at least one of the three dictionaries used in tournament and app play: Collins Scrabble Words, the NASPA Word List 2023 (NWL2023) and ENABLE. Each page says which of them accept a word, because the answer often differs between a North American game and an international one. Wordle details come from the published Wordle answer list.
How common a word is comes from real usage data (wordfreq by Robyn Speer (CC BY-SA 4.0), with hermitdave FrequencyWords as a fallback). Definitions are modern senses from Wiktionary (CC BY-SA) where available and public-domain Webster's 1913 elsewhere. The full list is on the sources page.
How we check every page
Every number on the site, from match counts to tile scores, is computed from the word database rather than typed by hand. Before a page is published it is checked against that data:
- each count, score and dictionary figure must match the database exactly;
- every example word must fit the page's pattern letter by letter;
- claims such as "the highest-scoring word" are verified, not assumed;
- offensive words and slurs are never used as examples. They still appear in full A–Z lists so the lists stay complete for players, but never in highlights, scores or text.
Scores use standard English Scrabble tile values before any board bonus or blank tiles.
What we do not do
There are no ads, no sponsored placements and no paid links on Word Puzzle Answers. We do not sell data, and the site has no accounts or sign-ups. Our analytics are described on the privacy page.
Word Puzzle Answers is not affiliated with Hasbro, Mattel, Zynga, Merriam-Webster, NASPA, Collins or The New York Times. Game names are used only to describe what the lists are for. A word's validity may differ from the official dictionary of the specific game you play, so check that list before a challenge that matters.
Corrections and updates
Word lists change when dictionaries are updated, and we rebuild the site from the new data when that happens. This version was built on 2026-10-18.
